This is a newly collected Nikon SB-E Flash. It came with the carrying case. It was one of two accessories introduced with the Nikon EM, the other being a winder.
The back of the flash has the operating ranges for two different kinds of Nikon cameras designated as FE-FM and EM. Please note the SB-E flash has an operating range from 0.6 to 6 m, or 4.25 m or 3 m (20, 14, 10 feet) when used on a Nikon EM camera. The same flash on a Nikon FM or FE has one f/stop at each ASA you have to use and using that f/stop you have an operating range of 0.6—3 m (2—10 feet).
Again the battery hatch has the cutest action of any flash I have met. The fact in this image the hatch is tipped up the wrong way and is blocking the batteries being put in place is my fault. You should tip the hatch towards the outside edge to completely free the batteries access.
The Nikon case for the SB-E flash has its own designation. It is a SS—10. It has a great texture and fake stitching so it appears high-end.
