If you collect long enough, eventually you will have the choice of collecting—
So when the opportunity came to pick up a Bushnell window mount—they are clamped on the vehicle’s window, which turns out to be a lot more secure than you would imagine—I acquired it. Like a lot of my collection it was never actually used, just added to my “stuff”.
So when I saw an obviously much more recent version at a really good price I couldn’t resist. Who knows, it might have improvements!
I am not absolutely sure it has improvements, but it is noticeably different—
Some things are close to the same—for example the width and depth of the mount that grips the window.
- a newer version of something you already have
- variations of an item (possibly from another manufacturer)
- more than one of an item
- a newer black version* of a Bushnell window mount (see 1 above)
- a table top tripod labelled Pentax (see 2 above)
- a Manfrotto 056 Junior head, and a second Pentax 8x24 UCF binocular (see 3 above)

I am not absolutely sure it has improvements, but it is noticeably different—
- It is larger
- It can fit on much thicker objects (much thicker than vehicle window glass)
- the adjustment handle is longer
- the tripod screw is offset forward of the pivot
- the tripod screw is a two thumbscrew system
- the tripod support pillar is higher
Some things are close to the same—for example the width and depth of the mount that grips the window.
On the other hand the new mount’s tilt forward is compromised by the two-part tripod screw arrangement being offset forward so tilting down is compromised.
